Dishonest employees steal 5.7 times more than shoplifters. Based on comparison data of more than 1.8 million employees researched by Jack Hayes International, employees stole an average of $659.93 per person compared to shoplifters who averaged only $115.24 per person. In 2002, one out of every 30 employees was appehended for theft from their employer.
